Documents required by the authorities for cargoes:
2   Copy of all dangerous goods on board showing IMO & UN number.
8   Copies of original signed & stamped cargo manifest, showing IMO & UN numbers for dangerous goods.

Documents to be delivered to port authorities 7 days prior vessels arrival:
- Cargo stowage plan
- Hatch list
- Index (prepared by agent)
- Containers Discharge list (prepared by agent)
- Information about cargo to be exported and places of stowage in ship.

All above documents are to be airmailed to the agent's head office in Amman and not Aqaba.

Documents required by the authorities for free pratique:
7 Copies crew list
7 Copies passenger list
1 Copy stores list.
1 Copy crew declaration list.
1 Copy vaccination list.

The following forms to be filled:
2 Copies of maritime declaration of health.
1 Customs declaration form.
2 Copies vessel's specification form.
1 Copy pilotage form


The following documents to be produced for checking:
(a) Log book
(b) Ship's registry certificate (kept by the port authorities until departure).
(c) Derate certificate.

It is imperative that safety equipment certificates to be valid, otherwise Port Authority will not permit vessel to sail after completion.

International Tonnage Certificate 1969:
Certificate must be on board all vessels with no exception in accordance with the resolutions and articles of both the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the International Convection On Tonnage Measurements of Ships, and it is necessary to submit a copy to Free Pratique officers in order to facilitate and expedite their mission.

Container Vessels:
It is requested by the authorities to deliver Bay Plan & Ship Plan along with Cargo Manifest ,48 hours prior vessel's arrival.

Radio Free Pratique
Ship's Masters are kindly requested to cable Port Health of Aqaba or Harbor Master with the following information's which are requested for Radio Free Pratique via Aqaba Radio / JYO :-
Ship's Name, Flag, Home Port, Last Port, Next Port, GRT, NRT, Agents Name at Aqaba, Derating Certificate, If passengers on board or not, if animals onboard or not, List of ports of call and dates of departures in the last 40 days, crew number and the health condition, Answer of the International Health six questions and ETA Aqaba.

Shore cranes
Available and could be used for discharge but prior port auth approval should be obtained.

Heavy Lifts
Heavy lifts are discharged direct to lorries using ship's own gear due to limited Port's corporation lifting capacities. However privately owned cranes of lifting capacity up to 250 tons are available.

Health
Health Officials board after vessel drops anchor or after vessel is secure alongside . The Port Medical Officer is in charge of granting Free Pratique to all vessels on arrival, and of all medical matters concerning ships and seamen.

Fresh Water
Fresh water may be supplied to ships and water may be supplied alongside any of the berths with the exception of the floating berth which has no water available.

Fuel
Bunkers fuel type 600-1000-1200 per sec (Redwood Viscosity) is available in Aqaba but generally in limited quantities. If a vessel requires a large quantity, Master must give notice prior arrival then a few hundred tons may be secured. Similar arrangements may be made for Gasoil but on a much smaller scale.

Opening/Closing hatches
Normally handled by stevedores while alongside or by ships crew before arrival.

Customs allowances
20 packets of cigarettes and 1 bottle of liquor for each crew member. Ships store is locked and sealed by Customs while in port.

Gangway/Deck watchmen
Customs provide a guard who has to be given full board and lodging .Ships are also supplied with local watchmen through Agents.

Islamic Holidays change from year to year as they are reckoned in accordance with the lunar calendar consisting of 354 days.

Waste Matter and Pollution
No rubbish may be thrown overboard either at the anchorage or alongside the quays. A barge calls regularly at all anchorages to collect garbage . No vessel which has carried livestock may clean its holds while in port. No vessel may pump overboard any silage, fuel or water ballast liable to contaminate the port. This regulation refers particularly to substances mixed with oil. Ships Masters are warned that contravention of the above rule renders them liable to penalties of up to JD 10,000 per ship.

Sewage Discharge
Since Aqaba Gulf is considered among the very sensitive areas in regard to the preservation of both the cleanliness of our coasts and the beauty of the Aqaba environment It is prohibited to discharge sewage into the sea. It is necessary for all vessels calling Aqaba port to have special collection tanks on board vessels for sewage, and to empty these tanks into special tanks on shore upon arrival to port. Any vessel violates this, will be subject to the marine pollution procedures applied in Aqaba Port.


Customs Fines
Fines and customs duties may be incurred on Owners/Operators as a result of :

1) Short- or over-delivery of cargo
    In this case owners/operators will be subject to the following fines and duties

Cargo value
and
From One to Three times the customs duties

If goods are not subject to any duties or taxes (including import duties and additional tax) a fine of Jd 25.- up to Jd 100.- will be charged per each B/L.

2) Failure to comply with regulations relating to the deceleration of goods or cargo documentation or

    delay in the presentation of Cargo Manifest and Cargo documents to the authorities ,will be
    subject to a customs fine up to JD 100.- .

3) Discrepancy in goods value (if declared) , nature or port of loading will be subject to customs fines

    from Two to Three times the customs duties.

Port Storage
The storage services charges for goods and containers stuffed with goods shall be charged for every day of the first 20 days following the free period .
If such period exceeds 20 days, the storage charges shall be levied as follows:-

1. An amount to the amount of the said storage charges shall be added in respect of every day of the twenty days following the first of twenty day period.

2. An amount equal to double the said storage charges shall be added in respect of every day of the twenty days following the second of twenty day period.

3. An amount equal to ten times the said storage charges shall be added in respect of every day after the periods specified in subparagraphs (1 and 2) of this item.

* Total storage services charges on any goods may not exceed 50% of their value as assessed by the customs authorities excluding empty containers.


Cold Store
Within the Free Zone with a capacity of 6,000 tons. It is made up of four compartments, each sub-divided into four reefers.
